What we collect
We do not require accounts and do not directly collect personal information. Traffic is measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which reports aggregate figures only — pages viewed, referring sites, country, and device type.
It does this without cookies, without local storage, and without fingerprinting visitors by IP address or browser string. There is no identifier that would let us follow you from one visit to the next, or from this site to anywhere else. Because it stores nothing on your device, it is not covered by the advertising consent prompt described below — there is nothing to consent to.
Advertising and cookies
This site is supported by display advertising. Advertising is served by third-party vendors, which may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Where Google is used as an advertising vendor, Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.

Fonts and external resources
Pages on this site load typefaces from Google Fonts. Requesting those files transmits your IP address and browser details to Google in the ordinary course of serving the font.
Two other pieces of external code run on these pages: the advertising tag described above, which loads from Google's servers into the marked slots between chapters, and the Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon, which loads from Cloudflare's servers and reports the aggregate page view described above. That is the complete list.
Everything else — the writing, the illustrations, and the interactive simulations — is served from our own domain and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you do inside a simulation is recorded or transmitted anywhere.
Donation links
Donation links on this site point directly to each featured charity's own website. We do not process donations, receive any portion of them, or receive information about donors. Once you follow such a link, that organization's own privacy policy applies.
